In a recent conversation with a housemate at a Halloween Party, I came to the realization that I am quite a bit older than the majority of my housemates.
Me: Clever costume, I love foxes!
PumpkinMaster Housemate: Thanks! It's all vintage and completely under $3.
Me: Great. You know, the more I look at it, the more it reminds me of the fox from Zoobilee Zoo. What's his name? Oh...Bravo! That's it! Bravo the Fox!
PumpkinMaster Housemate: (stares blankly) Uh...who's that? What's Zoobilee Zoo?
This is when I realized that yes, I must be older than dirt. This girl was a mere junior at Augsburg College, putting her birth year at roughly 1988 or 1989. Yikes! Of course she wouldn't remember such a gem of a show. How silly of me to remember and bring it up in casual convsersation at such a Halloween Party. So, to educate the masses of youngsters out there, I have included a clip. Enjoy.
Who was your favorite character? I was always a fan of the journalistic, scholarly cockateil (though she was rather annoying at second glance) and the leopard at the anchor desk.
Why am I posting again? Oh yeah, because I don't want to work on my NOVEL. Damn it. Back to work. Help.

Miss Potter
I just watched this this weekend and realized that I AM Miss Beatrix Potter. And I love her. The woman didn't marry until she was over 36. She lived at home for most of her single life and dedicated herself to her work, which included writing and illustrating her children's book series. Her characters were her friends, and she was proud of them. She told herself and her fans that she would never marry, and when she did decide to, the love of her life found her by accident, as a business proposition. She was forbidden to marry him until she spent a summer away to make sure she truly wanted to marry "below her class." When the love of her life DIED that summer, she swore to herself and her parents from then on that she would do only what she desired to do and she moved out with her book profits. That's my kind of girl. She did find love again, but only after finding herself and dedicating her life to the conservation of farm land. She was a true inspiration to females everywhere!

Ok, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be
It never really is, is it? Or is that the couple of glasses of wine speaking? Probably a little of both at hand. No, I'm not happy with the way I look or act or generally where I am in life right now. But no, that doesn't mean I have to take it out on the people around me. Regardless of what they are thinking (and it's not fair to assume anything) they are cool people in different stages of life. Maybe I am a little jealous. Of both generations. I'm jealous of the cousins who still have the majority of their college lives ahead of them. I'm jealous of their fresh, clean slate. I'm also jealous of the older generation who has their life figured out, as well. I, in a small way, would like to be there. Settled, and done with it all and out of this twenty-something miserable questioning existence. Maybe I don't mean that. Maybe I really do mean that the pain is the journey and I should just relish it and enjoy the journey as the great part of life. Maybe I should just stop thinking about it so much. Maybe it should be left alone for a while. Who knows? Maybe I will write a bad holiday song like The Story of the American Duggans to the tune of The Beverly Hillbillies and actually make a little dough off of it. Long story. Weed anyone?

Quarterlife, take III or IV
I wasn't expecting to get into this series, but every now and again when I have some spare time (like that happens often) I take a look at it. It's actually kind of good, in a cheesy but I can totally relate kind of way.
Judge for yourself.

Quarterlife, You Tube style
Not that I'm whiny, but this show can only be seen on the web and sums up everything that my generation supposedly stands for. What's more, is it's mildly entertaining. Go here for more information. Then click play for part one of the series.
I really liked the line where Dylan says "The sad truth about our generation is that we were all geniuses in elementary school but the people that deal with us never got our transcripts..."
What is wrong with my generation? Are we just too needy? Do we just need to shut up and get a job? Obviously I don't think so. What do you think. Comments welcome.
