Sometimes you feel like a shrimp...

Sometimes you don't

Whoever came up with this has way too much time on their hands, in my humble opinion. It does look like a neat idea though. Also, I get a day off from work and what do I do with it? I register to take the PRAXIS. That's right folks, this pathetic excuse for an exam, and I need to take it to prove to the state of Minnesota that I am fit to teach its children. There went my day off. Where did it go? I don't see relaxation anytime soon. Darn.

Stephen Colbert on AmeriCorps

Funny! Why would anybody do anything nice for anyone else without getting paid for it? Outrageous! AmeriCorps shout-out!

Interesting fact: For every ONE spot in AmeriCorps, TWO applicants get turned away. I did not realize this until this video. Thanks Stephen Colbert!

Contest within a Contest entry

I'm happy to announce my second Perfect Fifths entry on this blog in a row. As I've mentioned before, I can't do a video, that's why I post the genius winning ones, like the one in the previous entry (from Georgia no less!) and this one:

As long as I'm on a posting roll, I post the final winning video here:

These folks have gotten and advance copy of Perfect Fifths, so I want my chance, naturally. The final story in the saga goes on sale April 14, but is available from places like Amazon.com for pre-order NOW! I'm doing this shamelessly, and only judging myself a little.

Go to Megan McCafferty's website and link to what she tells you to for a chance to win your own copy. Contest details are here.

Good Luck!

I'm posting again when I'm supposed to be writing up my clinical observation

Only to report that there was a few winners named it the "What does Jessica Darling Mean to Me" contest hosted by Megan McCafferty in preparation for the Perfect Fifths release April 14th of this year. I'm excited for the release of this book probably more than I should be, at 27. But I'm even more excited about this video, created by a mere mortal. I've wanted to enter this contest, but have proven little experience with technology, especially video technology, so I opted out. Here's my favorite video:

I seem to be posting weekly now

For no good reason at all...of course I could use the guise that I've been insanely busy trying to be the best I can be at work and at school, as well as at home, but really, I just haven't made the time for blogging. I'm not even quite sure where blogging fits into my life anymore. I've been watching movies for fun, not sitting down at the computer. I've been working out to relieve stress, not sitting down at the computer. Eventually, I would like to return to blogging and writing in general, but until then, until an inspiration hits, you lovely readers will have to deal with this mess of a blog to read. Random musings and quizzes and movie reviews when I feel like it. I did choose a new template, which I seem to do every month or so. I'm going to leave you now and go get some actual papers written and decide which assessments I am going to give for my case study this week. Oh, and probably do some reading in there. Feel free to leave comments on what you would like to see in this space, or just tell me to give it up, now! Happy Monday, and Happy Presidents Day. Enjoy the day off work, those who get one. And enjoy the day at work, those that are there.

Some thoughts for Monday

I love this, and thanks to Emmy and her blog over at Lucky Ball Charms, I have it. A good little message for starting my week.

He's Just Not That Into You

With the premiere of the movie out this week, I thought I'd take you readers back to the episode of Sex and the City where Burger (one of Carrie's exes) enlightens Miranda of the very fact in question. It's a great scene.

More photos

One of my favorite things to do is to take a bunch of photos and put them into a collage like this one, a tribute to my grandmother on her 90th birthday. It's relaxing, and invigorating to know that others will see this and appreciate the lives and times of the people immortalized in the photo collage. Plus, it's just fun.

A piece of history

I'm a sucker for a piece of history and historical documents, and I love this one. I found it in my father's box of my grandmother's important documents when she died last year, and I respect that the high school diploma did her well for her entire life. My grandmother was no more than high school educated, worked her way through job after job and taught herself the bnokkeeping profession. To this day I remember how she can take a string of numbers and come up with a sum in under 20 seconds. This came in handy during our many scrabble games. Oh grandma, how I miss thee. So this is my tribute to you. It's also amazing to note how high school deplomas never change, over time. Mine from 2000 looks strikingly similar to this one, in the 1900s.

I belong in the Zoo

I do. With the zebras, because sometimes I feel like them. All striped and out of place and all!
