Watch out Japan: Here I come!

It's official. I've been in Korea for six months to the day today.
It's official. I've purchased my one-way ticket to Japan for June 2011.

I'm going there to see a childhood friend get married. But I'm always willing to hear what there is to do there too. What should I plan to see while in Japan?

well which part of japan are you going to? i can tell you all sorts of cool stuff to see in okinawa. but i have never been to mainland. if you're planning on going to mainland, i would suggest seeing disneyland, tokyo. and take pictures cause i've always wanted to see it!

Sadly, I will be mainland, Kyoto and Osaka areas mainly. I'm flying into Osaka airport and my friend is getting married near her home in Kyoto. I'll check disneyland out, but I want to look at more authentic japanese experiences. Also, I'll be on a budget. Not gonna spend a lot of money on this trip, as I have no idea about a job when I get back to the states. I bought a Lonely Planet guide to Kyoto and am looking forward to using it the next couple of months.

Thanks for the feedback though. How long have you been in Japan? How much longer are you going to b there? It would be great if we could meet up at some point when I'm there, but would understand if you are busy.
